According to the police, the accused resides at Lallubai Compound in Mankhurd with his parents, three children and a younger brother. Before shifting to Mankhurd three years ago, the family lived in Mahim. The accused has four cases of half-murder, robbery and grievous assaults lodged against him in different police stations in the city.
In her statement to the police, the 49-year-old mother of the accused said, “The night before (Monday), after we all had dinner together, my elder son (the accused), his three children and I went to sleep in the hall while my husband and younger son were sleeping in the kitchen. At around 4 am I felt something awkward. I woke up with a start and before I could react, my son had gagged me with one hand and held a knife to my neck with the other. He raped me while he threatened to kill me if I made any noise.”
After the crime, when the accused went to the bathroom, his mother, stunned and traumatised, gathered her wits about to tell her husband of the horror. The duo then rushed to Mankhurd police station to lodge a complaint. The police filed an FIR and booked the accused under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (part II, criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
Inspector Chandrashekhar Nalawade of Mankhurd police station said, “Acting on the complaint of the victim, we immediately reached her house and arrested her son. Both were later sent to Nagpada police hospital for medical examination, which confirmed the rape. The clothes of the victim and the accused were sent to the forensic lab for testing.”
“It has been learnt that the accused is a sexual pervert and a drug addict who makes lewd remarks on girls and women,” said PI Kaniram Pawar of Mankhurd police.u00a0
