Shantanu’s Kolkata style at Cannes 2024

Shantanu thanked designer Aniket Gupta for the shoes that represented the place where he was born and brought up.

Shantanu Maheshwari unveiled the poster for his upcoming movie ‘Love in Vietnam’ at the prestigious 77th Cannes Film Festival.

The `shacket` was intricately embellished with pearl and crystal beading, symbolizing a fusion of French and Indian aesthetics.

For this special event, he chose a unique Chikankari outfit, a classic Indian craft from Lucknow, reimagined with a contemporary twist.

Shantanu collaborated with ace designer Shahab Durazi, donning a sleek and modern shacket instead of the traditional chikankari kurtas or bandis.

The patterns featured Fleur-de-lis (lily flowers) and Indian paisley, reflecting designs from the post-Mughal Kashmir region.

To complete the ensemble, he added timeless monk shoes, hand-painted with a cityscape of Kolkata, adding a personal touch to his look.
