Jaishankar weighs in on Katchatheevu row

EAM S Jaishankar alleged indifference from Congress prime ministers towards Katchatheevu island during a press conference on Monday.
Jaishankar asserted that the Katchatheevu row has been a persistent concern as BJP & Congress, DMK traded barbs over the issue.
Criticising parties for raising issue now, Jaishankar claimed they were complicit 1974 agreement with Lanka, which led to ongoing disputes over fishing rights
Over two decades, thousands of Indian fishermen have faced detention and vessel seizures by Sri Lanka; Modi govt is prioritising their release, Jaishankar said.
Jaishankar stressed on need for dialogue with Sri Lankan govt to address the longstanding issue & find a mutually beneficial solution for Indian fishermen.
