Fashion Street shuts ahead of PM`s visit

Mumbai`s famous Fashion Street appeared deserted on Wednesday as authorities ordered shopkeepers around Azad Maidan to keep their establishments shut
The directive was issued keeping in mind the security arrangements for Thursday`s oath-taking ceremony and the PM`s visit to Mumbai
More than 4,000 police personnel have been deployed in the city ahead of Thursday`s oath ceremony
A large number of supporters of the Mahayuti allies — BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP — are expected to gather at the venue to witness the ceremony
Special arrangements have been made to accommodate 40,000 BJP supporters and a separate seating arrangement will be provided to around 2,000 VIPs
Before sealing the shops, members of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted a thorough search to ensure no untoward incident takes place
A platoon of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), and Quick Response Team (QRT), Riots Control Team, Delta, Combat teams and BDDS have also been deployed
Special security arrangements have also been made considering the traffic congestion on the roads leading to Azad Maidan
Around 280 personnel of the traffic wing, including senior police officers, will be on Mumbai`s roads to man traffic
