World Post Day is observed on October 9 to commemorate the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland
The day was officially declared World Post Day during the UPU Congress held in Tokyo, Japan, in 1969
At the GPO, employees were seen sorting mail and packages, showcasing the efficient operations that ensure timely delivery of postal services
Activities throughout the day included demonstrations of postal sorting processes
In a world increasingly reliant on digital communication, the postal services continue to play an essential role in bridging gaps, especially in rural areas
