We broke up over our families...

Loving someone is great but you have to ask yourself about what your expectations for yourself are, going forward. This arrangement will only last until the point where you feel the need for something more substantial

I was in a relationship with my girlfriend, but our families didn't like each other. She broke up with me for that reason. Did she do the right thing?
Her reasons may or may not make sense to you, but she made a decision, and you have to accept it. I assume you both had conversations about your families and the implications of not receiving their support. Either of you could have addressed this, but chances are she chose to prioritise her family's wishes over the importance allocated to her relationship with you. You can reach out to her and ask for a clarification, of course, but it doesn't seem as if there is anything you can do if she chooses not to give you one either. You may simply have to accept this and move on.

My long-term boyfriend has been with me for over three years now, but always says that he doesn't want anything serious. I was okay with this at the start but am now questioning this arrangement because I think it prevents me from finding someone who wants to spend the rest of his life with me. I love him a lot though, which is why I hesitate to end things. What should I do?
Loving someone is great but you have to ask yourself about what your expectations for yourself are, going forward. This arrangement will only last until the point where you feel the need for something more substantial. When that happens, you may start to resent your boyfriend. Also, if he is clear about his wants being so different from your own, this really is a decision you have to make for yourself, for very selfish reasons. You won't know if there is someone you want to spend your life with until you go out there and try to find that person. It's natural to be afraid when it comes to stepping out of your comfort zone but, the sooner you do that, the easier it will get.
