-0When it comes to gaming, everyone talks about the fancy graphic card, blazing-fast RAM and cutting-edge processors. The fact here is that we need a monitor to experience all of this goodness and a sub-standard one will just ruin the entire experience.

There are several factors to consider when it comes to selecting a monitor for gaming. The first is size - anything under a 24-inch is no fun, at the same time you don't want a 40-inch giant occupying your desk space. Anything between 24-32 inches is ideal. Though 32-inches, I feel, may be still a bit too big to game on, especially with your PC.

Resolution is also important. The minimum you need is a full HD monitor, anything with a better resolution will depend on your budget and the processing power of your graphic card. If it can handle gaming at 4K, then don't be afraid to go all the way. However, 4K gaming monitors are still prohibitively expensive.

Most monitors come with a 60hz refresh rate, but if you want to game, you are looking to get a monitor with a much higher refresh rate so anything over 120hz is good. Higher is better, but higher refresh rates could again increase the cost.

Connectivity is also something you want to consider in a gaming monitor. Ideally, you want a monitor with at least two connection options. Anything with speakers and headphone connectors gets bonus points. Why? Because you may want to connect a laptop, or better still, one or more consoles.

MSI Optix G241 /G271

The MSI Optix G series monitor is a product meant for esports. It ticks all the right boxes including a full HD panel, 1ms response time, 144Hz refresh rate, a wide colour gamut and a 178-degree viewing angle. The screen also has an anti-flicker and lowered blue light to prevent eye strain and fatigue. There are three inputs available - two HDMI and one display port. There are no speakers on this monitor, but it does have a headphone out. There is no real difference between the two monitors in this series except for the size.
Price: MSI Optix G241 (24-inch) Rs 15,999, MSI Optix G271 (27-inch) Rs 19,390

Lenovo G25-10

The Lenovo G25-10 is another great option for gamers. It features a 24.5-inch full HD panel, 1 millisecond response time, 144Hz refresh rate, 170-degree viewing angle and a headphone port. The G25-10 doesn't have any in-built speakers. It is slightly bigger than a regular 24-inch monitor and it features only two inputs - an HDMI and a display port. The screen has reduced blue light which can help protect the eyes, it is even certified by TÜV Rheinland for eye comfort. You can also wall mount this monitor for more convenience.
Price: Rs 14,729

Acer KG271C 27-inch

The Acer KG271C offers a gaming monitor at a very competitive price point. It has all the things you are looking for in a gaming monitor, like a 144Hz high refresh rate, 1 millisecond response time, 170 degrees viewing angle and a full HD panel. There are three inputs available - display port, DVI and HDMI. The Acer KG271C has a pair of stereo speakers built-in, but it doesn't have a headphone port. This monitor can also be wall-mounted.
Price: Rs 13,999

LG Ultragear 24 inch /27 inch

The LG Ultragear is a superb 24-inch monitor that can operate at 144Hz for smooth graphics and with a native response time of just 1ms. Ultragear has a viewing angle of 170 degrees and is full HD. The monitor comes with three connection options - two HDMI inputs and one Display Port. You can also connect your headphones directly to the monitor, as there are no speakers on this one. The 27-inch version has a 99 per cent sRGB rating, which means better colour accuracy and it also supports HDR 10. The LG Ultragear comes with a three-year warranty and can be wall-mounted.
Price: 24GL650F (24-inch) Rs 13,999, 27GL650F (27-inch) Rs 20,100

Samsung LC24RG50FQWXXL

The Samsung curved gaming monitor is a full HD monitor with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. All the other screens on this list have the standard 16:9 aspect ratio. The wider curved screen is great for cinema, but it could also feel more immersive for videogames. The issue here is that a curved screen is best used by one user sitting in the middle for optimal viewing, the screen also seems smaller than a regular monitor because of the width. If you are into the 2.35:1 aspect ratio, this monitor offers three inputs - two HDMI ports and one display port.

It has a 178-degree viewing angle from the top, bottom and sides. The screen also has custom gaming features like its picture mode which adjusts screen colours for FPS, RTS or RPG games. The refresh rate is 144Hz and it has a 4ms response time. The curved monitor has built-in blue light reduction that can reduce eye strain. While this sounds good, remember this monitor looks smaller than a regular gaming monitor because of the aspect ratio.
Price: Rs 13,850
