This year the 10-day long carnival is focusing solely on music, and the line-up also features multi-Grammy award-winning composer Ricky Kej
The idea is to have something for everyone on every single day," says Shruti Shibulal, CEO and director of Tamara Leisure Experiences. The seventh edition of the 10-day Tamara Carnival will be held around Diwali at Tamara Coorg and Tamara Kodai.
"We originally conceptualised it as a way to support and showcase Indian music, dance and art in a very engaging way to our guests," says Shibulal. "It's not typical for hotels do something like this, but we are really passionate about it." Over the years, they have tried different things, such as classical dance performances, but after a lot of experimentation, this year the focus is on music. "We have artistes who will keep the energy up," says Shibulal.

The lineup includes multi-Grammy award-winning Indian music composer Ricky Kej, Bengaluru-based fusion band The Seher, singer-songwriter Ravi Baral, classical musician Mansa Pandey, and the multilingual and multi-genre band The Indic Raga. The artistes will perform at either of the two properties, based on each audience. For instance, Pandey would be well appreciated in Kodai, while Kej's global music would be a good fit for Tamara Coorg.
"I'm super excited," says Ricky Kej, "The Coorg property is focused completely on sustainability, and a lot of my music is about that too. So, this is something that is really close to my heart." Usually, the carnival is held around Christmas and New Year, but this time, it's being organised during Diwali to tap into a new festive season. With a gathering of around 100 people, it promises to be an intimate experience.
