When Krishna Mourya founded Adventure Forever, the idea was to get people as close to nature as possible. "While we began by organising cycling, hiking and overnight camping trips, we also wanted to build a community that actively participates in newer experiences," said Mourya.
Organising free outdoor yoga classes is Mourya's latest effort in that direction. "Practising yoga outdoors not only connects us deeply with the elements and energy of the universe, it also brings self-awareness," Mourya explained, adding that it also reduces stress, regularises blood pressure, infuses the body with vitamin D, which in turn decreases the risk of depression.
The event aims at promoting a healthy lifestyle, away from the chaos of city life. "We usually hold the session at Yeoor Hills. It begins with a 40-minute hike from the entrance gate of Yeoor in Sanjay Gandhi National Park to the nearest plateau inside the forest. Here, the group is guided by professional yoga instructors, who teach some easy-to-learn asanas, along with breathing exercises," said Mourya.
This time though, Mourya has decided to hold the session inside Aarey Colony. While the session will be similar to the one held at Yeoor, instructor Parag Khanvilkar, who will be leading the class, will also combine strength-training exercises. "We want to focus on 360 degree-training. The session will include a talk on the benefits of exercising, followed by a demonstration that will combine strength-training to improve muscle strength, and yoga to work on flexibility," said Khanvilkar.
