From perfumes and hats to jewellery and junk, India Design Forum has rounded up the best in Mumbai for a custom-made design trail and there are options aplenty

'Design and chill' should be your mantra this coming weekend, as India Design Forum (IDF) 2016 breaks down the city into four design zones. Each day, it's a new place, with a new set of designers to encounter. And when IDF says designers, you'll well know that it can range right from an architect to a chef. Here's the spread that the design trail promises:

Fort

Indulge in the stories behind Ganjam's 125-year-old tradition of designing jewellery at the Taj Mahal Palace. In what could seem like polar opposites, you can also head to Porosity Kabari, where the junk of Chor Bazaar will be given a design treatment. What you will not want to miss out on is the return of Obataimu, after its Paris and London sojourn, in the Kala Ghoda precinct.
When: February 15, 5.45 PM - 10 PM

Bandra

Get treated to an open house at Sameep Padora and Associates (sP + A) where you can get up-close and personal with the architects. After which, you can get a whiff of quirk with milliner Shilpa Gupta and designer Lekha Washington, as the former's hats mingle with the latter's furniture. And, rounding up the design trail is an inimitable gastronomic project by Chef Gresham at Jude Bakery.
When: February 16, 5 PM - 7 PM

Alibaug and Colaba

Meet at the Gateway for a trip across the seas to the Dashrath Patel Museum, which displays the collection of the eponymous first director of the National Institute of Design (NID). And, Colaba's The Table will not just nourish your mind with "cultivation design" but will also present a menu with the freshest farm produce.
When: February 14, 12.30 AM - 6 PM

Byculla East and Andheri East

The city's cosiest museum will host a perfume workshop for children with Monika Ghurde, founder of MO Lab and independent perfumer and researcher. The workshop is meant to make children more attentive to their olfactory senses and enrich their experience of the world. In the same premises, the Dharavi Design Museum will present their latest exploits, followed by Workbench Projects' play-with-design workshop. Over at Maker's Asylum in Andheri East, you can thrash out prototypes on building human-centric design for the city.
When: February 13, 10 AM - 7 PM
