Skyharbor wants you to feel a whole gamut of feelings this Sunday
"Our music is very emotional. It aims to take you to another place," says Keshav Dhar of Skyharbor. "So there was this one gig, where the audience just stood silently all through. I thought it meant they didn't enjoy it one bit, but then they came up to me later and said that they were listening, and absorbing - you know like really listening.
That was a big compliment." If one had to describe Skyharbour, which is made up of founder Dhar (guitar), Devesh Dayal (guitar), Krishna Jhaveri (bass), Aditya Ashok (drums) and Eric Emery (vocals), they would say "progressive", but Dhar has a slightly different spin.
"What is progressive really? I would describe our sound as heavy, angry, reflective and textural. We have many things happening at the same time - it's very layered. It's a lot of heavy music, but that has a lot of melody at the same time."
The band, which Dhar says, has played in India, a fraction of shows compared to what they have played abroad, is grateful for the indie scene right now. "It's never been about the money. All the money we make, just goes into producing a show that's better than the last one. It's just about upping the ante every single time."
