Geeta Phogat is a professional freestyle wrestler who has represented India at many international wrestling events around the globe.

Geeta Phogat was the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. She achieved this feat during the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi. She defeated Emily Bensted in the final to enter the history books.

Geeta Phogat is also the first female wrestler from India to qualify for the Summer Olympic Games.

At the 2009 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship, Geeta Phogat bagged a gold medal.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Geeta Phogat had a shot at the bronze medal but lost.

At the Asian Wrestling Championships in 2012, Geeta Phogat bagged a bronze again after beating Sumiya Erdenechimeg. In pic: With husband Pawan Kumar.

At the 2013 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships, Geeta Phogat won a silver medal in women's freestyle 59kg category.

At the Asian Wrestling Championships in 2015, Geeta Phogat won another bronze medal in the 58 kg freestyle category.

Geeta Phogat married fellow wrestler Pawan Kumar Saroha on November 20, 2016.

Geeta Phogat hails from the infamous Phogat family in Haryana. Her father Mahavir Singh Phogat encouraged his daughters to pursue professional wrestling and faced major backlash from their community in their hometown. The 2016 Bollywoood biopic, Dangal, was based on the life of Geeta and Babita Phogat. Aamir Khan starred as their father Mahavir, while Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra portrayed Geeta and Babita. Dangal went on to become the highest-grosser during its time of release.
