Did you know Andy Murray was almost killed during a mass shooting in school?

Andy Murray is a British professional tennis player from Scotland currently, who is ranked No. 129 in men's singles as of March 2020. 

Andy Murray was born in Glasgow, Scotland as the son of Judy Murray and William Murray. 

Andy Murray represents Great Britain in his sporting activities and is a three-time Grand Slam tournament winner, two-time Olympic champion, Davis Cup champion, winner of the 2016 ATP World Tour Finals and former world No. 1.

Andy Murray's maternal grandfather, Roy Erskine, was a professional footballer in the late 1950s. Andy Murray is a supporter of Hibernian Football Club, one of the teams his grandfather represented.

Andy Murray began playing tennis at age 3 when he mom Judy would take him to the courts. His first competitive tennis tourney came at age 5.

Andy Murray grew up in Dunblane and attended Dunblane Primary School. He was present during the 1996 Dunblane school massacre when Thomas Hamilton killed 16 children and a teacher before shooting himself. Andy Murray took cover in a classroom. Murray says he was too young to understand what was happening and is reluctant to talk about it in interviews, but in his autobiography Hitting Back he states that he attended a youth group run by Hamilton and his mother gave Hamilton lifts in her car.

At age 10, Andy Murray's parents split. Andy and his brother Jamie lived with their father while also being coached by their mother.

Andy Murray began dating Kim Sears, daughter of Nigel Sears, in 2005. Their engagement was announced in November 2014, and they married on 11 April 2015 at Dunblane Cathedral in his home town, with the reception at his Cromlix House hotel (Andy Murray's father also remarried at the venue the following year). The couple have two daughters.

Andy Murray's career record is 673–196 with a winning percentage of 77.4.

On January 11, 2019, Andy Murray had announced that he would likely retire soon as he was suffering immense pain due to a hip injury and could not tolerate the pain any longer.
