Mumbai Indians defeated rival competitors Chennai Super Kings in the high profile IPL final in dramatic fashion by 1 run to win their record 4th IPL title. The man-of-the-match was awarded to MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his 2/14 bowling figures.

England won the 2019 World Cup after they defeated New Zealand in the final in what can be called rather controversial and dramatic fashion - by boundary count. After New Zealand posted a total of 241 on the board, England went on to equal the score at the end of their 50 overs courtesy a brave and unbeaten 84 runs from Ben Stokes and the match was tied. This went to the Super Over which England posted 15 on board. In what can be called the biggest shocker, New Zealand tied the Super Over posting 15 runs as well! However, the hosts had a higher boundary count (26) compared to New Zealand (17) and went on to win their first-ever ICC World Cup. Ben Stokes won the man-of-the-match.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli proved his class yet again as he emerged as the highest run-scorer in the calendar year for the fourth time in a row. Virat Kohli scored a total of 2455 runs in ODIs, Tests and T20Is in 44 matches at an average of 64.60. He hit a total of 7 centuries and 14 fifties.

Australia's opening batsman David Warner scored an unbeaten 335 runs against Pakistan at the Oval Test and broke quite a few records during his innings. Warner became the fastest to 7000 Test runs and entered the top 10 list for highest Test scores ever. Warner also broke Don Bradman's and Mark Taylor's records to become have the second-highest Test score by an Australian after Matthew Hayden.

West Indies deadly duo Shai Hope and John Campbell went through the Irish bowling attack like a knife through butter as they together posted the second-highest ODI partnership 365 in the match in Dublin. John Campbell scored 179 runs off 137 deliveries with 15 boundaries and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 130.65. Shai Hope posted 170 runs off 152 balls with 22 boundaries and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 111.84.

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu created history when she defeated Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the Badminton World Championships. Sindhu became the first Indian ever to win a gold at the World Championships.

Lionel Messi beat Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo to win his record sixth Ballon d'Or trophy after yet another amazing year. Messi previously tied with Cristiano Ronaldo for the trophy as they had won it five times each.

Liverpool defeated English rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League final to win their sixth title and first since 2005. Mohammad Salah scored a penalty in the second minute while Divock Origi extended the lead in the 87th minute to hand the Reds the title.

Manchester City won their fourth English Premier League title after they beat out rivals Liverpool by a point finishing on 98 points in the 38 games played.

Lewis Hamilton won his sixth Formula One championship finishing with 413 points, the highest ever in F1 history. Hamilton is now one title away from equalling legend Michael Schumacher's record.

Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal 6–3, 6–2, 6–3 in the 2019 Australian Open final to win his seventh Australian Open title.

Naomi Osaka defeated Petra Kvitova 7–6, 5–7, 6–4 in the Australian Open final to win her first title and second Grand Slam.

Rafael Nadal, nicknamed the King of Clay, won his record 12th French Open title after defeating Dominic Thiem 6–3, 5–7, 6–1, 6–1 in the final. Nadal also holds the record for most titles won at a single Grand Slam.

Ashleigh Barty defeated Marketa Vondrousova 6−1, 6−3 in the French Open final to win her first-ever Grand Slam title.

Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in a thrilling Wimbledon 2019 final 7–6(7–5), 1–6, 7–6(7–4), 4–6, 13–12(7–3) to clinch the Wimbledon crown. This was the longest final in Wimbledon history. This was Djokovic's fifth Wimbledon title.

Simona Halep defeated Serena Williams 6–2, 6–2 in the Wimbledon final to win. Halep is the first Romanian tennis player to win the Wimbledon.

Rafael Nadal defeated Daniil Medvedev 7–5, 6–3, 5–7, 4–6, 6–4 to win the US Open title, his fourth. Nadal took his Grand Slam titles total to 19.

Bianca Andreescu shocked the world when she defeated Serena Williams 6–3, 7–5 to win the US Open title. This was Andreescu's first Grand Slam title. She also became the first Canadian tennis player to win a Grand Slam.

The New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 to win their sixth National Football League title.
