The India U-31 team comprising Sayantan Kushari, Sagnik Roy, Pritam Das, Souvik Kar, Wrik Chakraborty and Swaranshish Chatterjee - all from West Bengal - maintained their good position at the 18th World Youth Bridge Championships in Netherlands. Even the non-playing captain-cum-coach of the team, Shibnath Dey Sarkar is from the same state. Sarkar was a gold medal winner at the last Asian Games.

Day Four on Thursday began with a 15-35 loss to Germany, who were lowly placed going into this match. In Match No.14, Latvia beat India very narrowly. Though Team India are still well placed in the third spot with 187.92 VPs, Israel have wrested first position from the Indians. China is in second position. The U-26 team needed to start off with big wins, but slipped further with two back-to-back losses to Germany and hosts Netherlands. The U-16 and U-21 boys and girls are having a bad run too.
