The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is set to resume after a two-year gap and captains of all the 12 participating teams are excited to get back on the mat once again.

The last two editions of PKL were cancelled due to the COVID-19-caused pandemic.

Defending champions Bengal Warriors, who beat Dabang Delhi by a score of 39-34 in the 2019 final, will take on Nitesh Kumar-lead UP Yoddha in their Season 8 opener at Bangalore today.

Bengal skipper Maninder Singh urged his team to play like champions and execute plans properly. "Kabaddi is an extremely tough sport that requires quick strategic thinking and presence of mind. The team have been working hard on their fitness and execution of key techniques. Stepping into Season 8 as the defending champions is motivating," Maninder said during a virtual meet on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, former champions U Mumba, who outclassed Bengaluru Bulls for the 2015 title, will start their 2021 campaign against the same opponents in the opening
game today.

Iranian star defender and U Mumba captain, Fazel Atrachali, said: "Bengaluru Bulls are strong on paper, but we have a plan to tackle each player. We have a strong and balanced side and we plan to keep it simple. We have a good combination of speed and agility in our raiding as well as technique and skill in our defence."
