Trisha Varma, 12, played the lead role in guiding Utpal Shanghvi Global School (Juhu) to two successive wins in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) girls' under-14 inter-school handball tournament at Azad Maidan on Wednesday.
The energetic Trisha capitalised on the assists from her teammates to score a tally of eight goals in the two games. In the first match, Trisha confidently bulldozed her way past the defences of the PG Garodia School (Ghatkopar) girls and finished as the leading goal-scorer with five goals as Utpal Shanghvi recorded a fluent 6-1 win. Maahi Mehta scored the sixth goal to complete the Juhu team's winning tally.
Later, Trisha scored three goals and Maahi added the two more as Utpal Shanghvi defeated DG Khetan International School (Malad) 5-1.

The bubbling attacking forward Trisha was excited about her contribution towards the wins. "It feels good to score and help the team win. I credit our success to coach Mala Kamraj, who has been training us well. My teammates are also responsible as they have coordinated perfectly with me and provided all the passes for me to score," Trisha told mid-day.
