Fourth seed Ritvik Nagle of Podar International School (Santacruz) trashed Maanav Shah of Utpal Sanghvi Global School (Juhu) 11-6, 11-8, 11-8 to clinch the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA)-organised under-16 table tennis title at University Pavilion, Marine Lines on Saturday. Ritvik, 14, playing in his maiden MSSA tournament, started off aggressively, snatching five consecutive points in the first game to win it comprehensively. In the second game too Ritvik dominated from the start. However, in the third game Ritvik faced some resistance as Maanav rallied from 5-10 to eventually lose 8-11.

Ritvik said his plan was to play aggressively and put his opponent under pressure. "My strategy was to play aggressively from the beginning to put Maanav under pressure. After playing some aggressive shots, he made some mistakes," Ritvik said. Meanwhile, in the girls' under-16 final, top seed Hiya Doshi of DY Patil International (Worli) emerged as champion after beating second seed Riya Suryavanshi of IES VN Sule Guruji School (Dadar) 11-4, 11-8, 10-12, 11-4.
