India women's hockey captain Rani Rampal and goalkeeper Savita Punia believe that the postponement of the Olympics by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic has helped Team India prepare better.
"We were initially disheartened to hear of the postponement last year, but we looked at the positive side and worked on improving as a team. I feel we are better at handling pressure now, both physically and mentally," said Rampal. Goalkeeper Punia felt that every player is highly motivated to give it their best shot.
"We have done well against higher-ranked teams like England, Argentina and Germany in the last two years, so our confidence is high. We hope to take this confidence into the Olympics. Our coach's philosophy is to only think about today's match and give it your best. He feels that after every match if we can look into the mirror and say that we gave our best, the results will definitely be good."
