Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek cruised into the second round of the Australian Open on Tuesday.

World No.2 Alcaraz was electric under the lights on Rod Laver Arena, demolishing French veteran Richard Gasquet 7-6 (7-5), 6-1, 6-2 in his first competitive match of the year. Swiatek survived a tough test against Sofia Kenin.

The Polish World No.1 came through 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 against the player she beat to win her first Grand Slam title, at the French Open in 2020.
