Carolina Marin of Spain continued her winning momentum against India's two-time Olympic medal-winning shuttler PV Sindhu when she defeated her 21-18, 19-21, 21-7 in the semi-final of the Denmark Open Super 750 tournament in Odense, Denmark.
More than the head to head, it were the yellow cards that both received for their verbal exchanges that was the highlight of the game. The semis win over Sindhu in Denmark happened to be Marin's fifth consecutive win.

Marin had also beaten the Indian at the final of the 2016 Rio Olympics, where Sindhu settled for a silver medal. It won't be figuratively wrong to say that among the two, it is Marin who reigns supreme on court.

With her recent win, the Spanish shuttler has a 11-5 head-to-head with Sindhu. Interestingly, the Indian shuttler has not been able to crack the code to defeat Marin for almost five years as her last win against Marin came in 2018 Malaysia Open quarters (22-20, 21-19). The last four times the Spanish shuttler tamed the Indian are as follows:
1: In January this year, Marin registered a 21-12, 10-21, 21-15 win over Sindhu in the first round of the Malaysia Open
2: The two had faced each other in the final of the 2021 Swiss Open, where the World No. 6 thrashed the World No. 12 shuttler 21-12, 21-5 in Basel
3: In their quarter-final clash at the 2019 Indonesia Masters, Marin eased past Sindhu 21-11, 21-12
4: In the 2018 BWF World Championships final, Marin had defeated Sindhu 21-19, 21-10 at China's Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Sports Park Arena.
