Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez split amicably after lengthy discussion

Singer Jennifer Lopez and former baseball star Alex Rodriguez reportedly spoke at length about their future a week before announcing their split.

According to a report in People magazine, the couple's recent split was amicable. "They spent time together in the Dominican Republic last week and decided that it's best to go separate ways. The split is very amicable," a source said.

The celebrity couple, who started dating in 2017 and got engaged in 2019, said in a joint statement that they are better as friends and will continue to support each other.

The statement read: "We have realised we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and each other's children."
