Wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Babita Phogat slam lyricist Javed Akhtar for his 'hardly literate' dig at Virender Sehwag and Dutt over Kargil martyr's daughter's anti-ABVP campaign
Gurmehar Kaur
The social media campaign against ABVP by Gurmehar Kaur, the daughter of an Indian Army martyr, that's gone viral has left the country divided. While some are defending the college student, there are others who are suggesting that it's anti-national.
20-year-old Kaur, a Delhi University student, had started the campaign 'I am not afraid of ABVP', following the violence at New Delhi's Ramjas College, which went viral and received massive support from students of various universities. She posted her pictures on Facebook holding different placards including 'I am not afraid of ABVP' and 'Pakistan did not kill my father but war did'.
HERE'S THE VIDEO SHE HAD SHARED ON FACEBOOK:
The whole thing escalated into a Twitter war when former India opener Virender Sehwag took a dig at the post by sharing an image of himself holding a placard saying, "I did not score two triple centuries. My bat did."
Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt also mocked Kaur with a meme that was doing the rounds of social media platforms.
Celebrity wrestlers Babita Phogat and Geeta Phogat came down on the side of Sehwag and Dutt in criticising Kaur, daughter of Kargil martyr Captain Mandeep Singh who alleged rape threats over her social media campaign on Tuesday.
"Gurmehar Kaur's view that her father was killed by war and not Pakistan was wrong for me. It's against our nation and martyrs," Babita said in New Delhi.

Echoing the same views, her elder sister Geeta said, "If you speak against nation, people will obviously not like it. Irrespective of gender, the person won't be spared."
Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar didn't take kindly to all the attacks on Kaur and launched an all-out counter attack on the celebs targeting the girl.
THIS IS WHAT JAVED AKHTAR TWEETED:
His 'hardly literate player' is a veiled reference to Sehwag, while the wrestler is obviously Yogeshwar Dutt.

He also took a dig at Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and accused the politician of being biased.
THIS IS WHAT THE MINISTER HAD TWEETED:
Now while Sehwag and Rijiju haven't responded to the veteran writer, wrestlers Babita Phogat and Yogeshwar Dutt did enter the dangal and respond to Akhtar.
THE YOUNGER PHOGAT SISTER RESPONDED:
She said that she has been saying 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai even before she ever saw a school.
Yogeshwar Dutt
Dutt, on the other hand, who is an Olympic medallist, posted, "You may have authored poems and stories but even I have made history for India on the world stage."
HERE'S HIS REPLY TO AKHTAR:
There are no winners in this Dangal as is the case in any war.
