An error in judgement can, at times, be made by even the sharpest of business brains. But if it costs you nearly $200m, it hurts badly
An error in judgement can, at times, be made by even the sharpest of business brains. But if it costs you nearly $200m, it hurts badly. Wrestling super star Hulk Hogan made one such million dollar blunder when he turned down the idea of promoting a barbeque grill and instead chose a meatball maker. Hogan revealed that his agent had called him in late 1994 asking if he'd prefer endorsing a grill machine or a meatball maker, reported British tabloid The Sun. "I want the Hulkamania Meatball Maker," said Hogan. To this, the agent asked: "What about the grill, and Hogan said: "Give that to your other client."
Boxer George Foreman advertises his world famous grill
Heavyweight boxer George Foreman was that other client, and the rest is history. Foreman made a whopping $200 million from the sales of the grills that became a household hit in the US and around the world. In fact, it was more money than Foreman made throughout his boxing career.
