Ashleigh Barty
Former World No.1 Ashleigh Barty has no regrets about announcing her retirement from tennis. Barty took time off in February after winning her maiden Australian Open in front of a home crowd. She was expected to return at Indian Wells and Miami, but withdrew from both events. In March, Barty's retirement announcement at the age of 25 came as a shock to the tennis world.
The Australian star, who got engaged to golfer Garry Kissick last November, told The Sydney Morning Herald: "I have spent so much time with my beautiful family and my nieces and nephew and you could not wipe the smile off my face the last few weeks. It's been awesome."
Barty explained that she is more than happy to have made the decision to retire. "I am just so happy, I didn't need any reassurance, but I have still felt that reassurance that I made the right decision," said Barty.
