Upbeat after beating China in the semi-finals, India found the going tough against a strong Hong Kong (China) in the team bridge final at Hangzhou on Thursday.
India were trailing by 41 IMPs at the half-way stage of the 96-board gold medal match played over six segments. Hong Kong (China) dominated the three segments 32-55 , 29-46 , 30-28. They also have a carryover of 3.1 IMPs.

India had taken a lead of 12 IMPs after eight boards of the first segment, but three double-digit swings in favour of Hong Kong (China) changed the complexion of the set and match. India lost more IMPs in the next set before winning the third by just two IMPs. Hong Kong (China) have had a great run in their campaign and the Indians will have to dig deep for gold on Friday.
