Teenage pistol shooter Esha Singh, 18, etched her name in India's sporting history books on Friday by becoming the country's first female shooter to win four medals at a single Asian Games.

Having bagged the team gold and individual silver in the 25m pistol events, on Friday, Esha won the team silver in the 10m air pistol event, along with Palak and TS Divya, and then clinched the individual silver in the same event.

Her father, Sachin, who was worriedly watching all the action from the stands of the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre, broke into a little dance as his daughter waltzed her way to second place, behind compatriot and another teenager, Palak, 17. "Winning four medals was never a target at all. This is so unexpected to be honest. I'm very surprised, in a happy way. I'm just grateful for this experience and the opportunity I've got," she told mid-day moments after her historic feat. "Feels very special to be part of history, but I'm still taking time to digest all of this," she added.

Interestingly though, there won't be any party, revealed a visibly tired Esha. "I'm just so exhausted, I think I'm going to sleep it out," she said with a smile.
Dad Sachin was obviously over the moon. "I'm proud of what Esha has achieved here. To be India's first female shooter with four medals is a fabulous achievement and full credit to her for her hard work, grit and determination," he told mid-day.
