Petkovic will now play top seed Nina Bratchikova of Russia in the quarter-finals today. Bratchikova beat Olga Savchuk of Ukraine 6-1, 6-1 in the second round.

Though she represents Germany, Petkovic said that her soul is still Serbian and World No 1 Novak Djokovic is her inspiration. "We are all of the same age and Djoko is my current inspiration," said Petkovic. "I have been away from the circuit for almost a year due to injury, but Djoko helped me in my comeback bid," she said.
