Tiger Woods took advantage of a late disaster by Padraig Harrington on Sunday to win the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational by four strokes, his fifth triumph of the season.

Woods, one stroke behind with three holes to play, birdied the par-5 16th after a magnificent approach shot and then watched in astonishment as Irishman Harrington ran up a triple bogey after chipping his fourth shot into a greenside pond.

Woods also birdied the last to shoot a five-under par 65 and finish 72 holes at 12-under-par 268 with Harrington, who fired a 72, and Australian Robert Allenby, who shot a final-round 66, sharing second on eight-under.

The victory was Woods's seventh at this tournament and his 16th in 30 World Golf Championships appearances, sealing his place as a favorite in next week's final major tournament of the season, the 91st PGA Championship.
