Pune: Bhur Singh, one of the suspects in the infamous doping scandal concerning the Pesi Shroff filly, Bullseye, died at the Sassoon hospital here yesterday.
Bhur and three others - Aam Singh, Chandan Singh and Umed Singh - were arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in the sensational case in February this year. All four were later released on bail.
Sources at Sassoon hospital told mid-day that Bhur was brought to the hospital dead, so a postmortem was carried out by the forensic department, after which, the body was handed over to his relatives, and as per the protocol, the police were informed.
Inspector Ajay Sawant, who heads the investigating team looking into the Bullseye case, told mid-day that the next hearing of the Bullseye case was scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, and Bhur being an accused, was supposed to attend it.
The Bullseye episode was in the news earlier this week as the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) stewards were expected to deliver the final verdict in the case in a meeting on Tuesday, but deferred the matter to October 28.
