Thane's men's top seed Sanish Ambekar outplayed his district-mate Zubin Taraporwala in straight games (11-6, 11-3, 11-6, 11-4) to bag the men's singles title in the first Maharashtra State ranking table tennis championships in Nanded recently.
However, Sanish lost in the youth boy's final to Mumbai City's Shubham Ambre who beat him 11-8, 11-7, 13-11, 11-9.
In the women's final, Mallika Bhandarkar beat Shweta Parte 11-1, 11-8, 10-12, 8-11, 11-3, 11-4.
