Top seed Andy Roddick booked his semi-final berth at the SAP Open ATP tennis tournament on Friday.
America's Roddick, seeking the fourth San Jose title of his career, defeated fifth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych 7-6 (7/5), 7-6 (7/5). He next faces seventh-seeded compatriot Sam Querrey.
