Ludhiana: Mumbai Garuda defeated Bengaluru Yodhas 5-2 in the fifth match of Pro Wrestling League here yesterday.
Mumbai had beaten Punjab Royals by the same margin in the tournament opener. It was all Georgian affair in the opening bout between Levan Berianidze and Davit Modzmanashvili, representing Mumbai and Bengaluru respectively in the men's 125 kg division. Levan began the contest with a convincing 4-1 win over Davit.
Mumbai extended the lead when Rahul Aware defeated Sandeep Tomar 5-0 in the men's 57kg class. In the female 53 kg category, Mumbai Garuda's Odunayo Adekuoroye stunned the audience by winning her bout against Lalita Sherawat in just a minute 21 seconds. She danced to the tune of Bhangra celebrating her 10-0 win with the audience that cheered for team Mumbai.
Bengaluru fought back by winning the last two bouts but it wasn't to be enough. Garuda's icon player Adeline Gray commented, "It's a great win for the team. The crowd has been very supportive and we are very happy playing in India. Our team is very strong and we look forward to some more action in matches to come". UP Warriors take on Dilli Veer at Guru Nanak Indoor Stadium tonight.
