New Delhi: Yet to get a promotion in Railways promised four years ago, boxer Manoj Kumar, who recently sued the Sports Ministry after being denied the Arjuna award, has now written to Railways Minister Sadananda Gowda pleading his case.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games gold-medallist, who is a CTI (chief ticket inspector) with Northen Railways, claims that he deserves to be promoted on the basis of his seniority and performance in the ring but has been denied that.

"I am running since 2010 to the Chairman of Railway Board Arunendra Kumar and GM of Northen Railways V K Gupta. But I have not got any result till date," Manoj wrote in his letter to the Minister.

The light welterweight boxer recently hit the headlines when he dragged the Sports Ministry to court for denying him the Arjuna award despite qualifying for the honour in the newly-introduced points system.

The flustered Haryana-lad has got senior BJP MP Anurag Thakur to endorse his request for promotion but it remains to be seen whether it would yield any result.
