The victorious Maharashtra boys kho kho team
Maharashtra boys emerged winners in the 30th Kho Kho Sub-Junior National Championships at the Albert Ekka Kho Kho Stadium in Hotwar, Ranchi recently. The state lads beat Odisha by eight points and an innings to defend their crown. Meanwhile, the Odisha's girls team shocked Maharashtra's girls side by seven points in the finale.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh finished third and fourth in boys category while the third and fourth place in the girls category was shared by Karnataka and hosts Jharkhand respectively.
Talented Maharashtra player, Ravi Vasave was adjudged the best player of the tournament and was presented with the prestigious Bharath Award.

Jayesh Tandel (Savera Special School) and Vimal (MDC Home) emerged boys and girls above-22 champions in the inaugural Dr AV Mehta Memorial inter-school carrom tournament for special children, organised by the Vallabhdas Dagara Indian Society for Mentally Retarded at the Gunvantiben Jaydev Choudhari Recreation Centre in Malad recently.
In the final, top seed Jayesh beat Abhimanyu Desai (Punarvasu Special School) in straight games 25-3, 25-1. Among the senior girls, Vimal beat Jyoti Sharma (MDC Home) 25-6, 25-5.
The Dhanbad Football Academy which is an AIFF accredited non-residential professional football academy, will be setting up a football training centre in Mumbai boys and girls from the U-10 to the U-18 category. Trainees will get an opportunity to participate in the AIFF Junior I-League and MDFA Youth League among other tournaments.
Selection trials will be conducted by the club's head coach and former state and national goalkeeper Shekhar Bangera at the Karnatak SA ground on Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm onwards.
Khar Gymkhana-Bayside Cricket Academy will conduct selection trials for under-21 boys at the Khar Gymkhana ground on October 10, 11 and 12. Aspirants should report to the Khar Gymkhana in full whites at 7 am. Khar Gymkhana has produced some exciting cricketers over the years. At one time, Test all-rounder Salim Durani played for them. The suburban club side figure in the âB' division of the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League.

The Society of Cricket Statisticians of India (SCSI) honoured cricket statistician Rajesh Kumar from Delhi at a function following their AGM at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai recently.
Rajesh, who contributes regularly to leading newspapers and sports magazines across the country and abroad, received the Anandji Dossa Memorial Trophy as the best statistician of 2018-19.
