Goalkeeper Daksh Bamania's fine efforts helped St Stanislaus High School 'A' (Bandra) enter the final of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA)-organised Oliver Andrade boys' U-10 hockey tournament following a 3-1 win via tie-breaker over Don Bosco High School 'B' (Matunga) at St Stanislaus ground, Bandra yesterday.
Daksh pulled off three saves for the Bandra outfit in the shootout. Sufiyan Mulla was the only scorer for Don Bosco. For the victorious Bandra side, Skye D'Costa, Nathan Michael and Jordan Desmond were on target.
Exciting game
In an exciting first-part of the game, both teams tried to get through the opponents' defence, but failed to open the scoring as they went into half-time goalless. Switching sides, the Bandra outfit showed aggressive intent, but Could not break the strong defence of the Aaditya Rane-led Don Bosco.
The game went into shootout after both teams failed to score in regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Daksh's heroics helped the Bandra outfit emerge winners. Meanwhile in another semi-final clash, Don Bosco 'A' handed Dr Antonio Da Silva (Dadar) an 8-0 thrashing.
Aryan Rane, Arsalan Shalikh and Shrabbhesh Khamkar scored brace while Arush Tawde and Eshan Khamkar netted a goal each for the Matunga side. St Stanislaus will face Don Bosco 'A' (Matunga) in the title clash today.
Bosco boys rule
Earlier, in the semi-finals of Olympian Walter D'Souza boys' U-12 hockey tournament, Don Bosco 'A' (Matunga) beat Don Bosco 'B' (Matunga) 2-0. Gavin Rao and Advait Pol scored a goal apiece for the winners. Zeal Michael's hat-trick helped St Stanislaus 'A' clinch a 4-0 win over Don Bosco (Borivli). Jayden Pereira was the other scorer.
