For the first time in its history, the Mumbai University will be organising the All-India Inter-University Hockey Tournament for men and the responsibility to host the championships will be undertaken by the MMK College of Commerce and Economics as a part of their Golden Jubilee celebrations.
This was announced by Dr A C Vanjani, Principal MMK College, in the presence of Dr U N Kendre, Director of Physical Education, Mumbai University yesterday. MMK College, which lays equal emphasis on sports along with academics, counts among its ex-students former Indian hockey captain Viren Rasquinha.
This year, the college has won three state championships, among them the boys under-19 football, under-19 girls hockey and the women's open.
