Some excellent anticipation from veteran Paes and brilliant placement from Hingis saw the duo fight back from a set down after Mirza-Dodig, the second-seeded Indo-Croatian duo, began brilliantly.

A day earlier, playing on adjacent courts, Paes and Hingis had beaten Andrea Hlavackova and Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-3, 3-6, 10-7, while Mirza and Dodig had upstaged Kristina Mladenovic and Pierre-Hugues Herbert 4-6, 6-3, 12-10 in their respective semi-final encounters in the French capital.

Sania last won a mixed doubles Grand Slam at the 2014 US Open along with Brazilian partner Bruno Soares.
