Sports For All, an eight-day Inter-School sporting extravaganza, covering nine Olympic disciplines will be conducted at the DY Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul from December 24 to 31.
The event will see over 6000 sportspersons from 263 schools, from Mumbai and its adjoining districts, coming together at one venue and competing in basketball, handball, volleyball, swimming, squash, badminton, tennis, table tennis and judo.
Three squash courts, a basketball court, a handball field, a volleyball court, four tennis courts and a 50x25m swimming pool have been refurbished for the inter-school Olympics.
Besides the refurbished playing surfaces, the venue will offer state of the art medical facilities, a clinic-cum-warm up zone, physiotherapy setup, nutrition workshops, a food court, free water stations and energy drink stations.
For the first time, all individual as well as team matches will be captured on HD cameras and the recordings will be available to registered participants and their coaches, besides their profiles being uploaded on the Sports For All website.
"After the Olympics of inter-school sport in Mumbai, SFA plans to be present in eight cities across the country by 2017 so as to build an inter-school and inter-college sporting system," says SFA founder Rishi Joshi.
India cricketer Rohit Sharma will be SFA's brand ambassador for the event.
