Canadian tennis beauty Bouchard finds New York amazing and says it is her favourite city in the world
Eugenie Bouchard
While Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has travelled to many countries across the globe to participate in various tournaments, the one city she loves is New York. Bouchard, 23, is in the city to be a part of the ongoing World Team Tennis (July 16-August 5). She is a part of the New York Empire side. "New York is my favourite city in the world, really. It's amazing," she was quoted as saying by American daily Newsday.
Bouchard admires the fact that the tennis fans are not bashful, whether cheering, booing or offering unsolicited advice. She recalled a US Open match at Louis Armstrong Stadium during which she went behind the baseline to get a new ball and heard someone in the crowd yell, "Hit more to her (opponent's) backhand!" She said: "I remember thinking, 'Why don't you come down here and try to do it? It's a little bit easier watching from the stands.' Even if they were all against me I would love it, because I love the atmosphere. When fans are involved in the match it makes it fun to play, no matter who they're for or against."
