Mohun Bagan struggled before a penalty conversion by Edeh Chidi helped them to blank Calcutta Customs 1-0 and ensure their third consecutive win in their Calcutta Football League Premier Division tie on Sunday.
Mohun Bagan started on an attacking note but the Customs players showed good fighting skills to thwart every chances from the reigning Federation Cup champions.
In fact, within the first 20 minutes, Tomba Singh and Chidi missed a couple of close chances to score.
Their winning moment came in the 38th minute when Snehasish Chakraborty was fouled inside the penalty box by Customs defender Umesh Beshara and the referee awarded penalty to Mohun Bagan.
Mohun Bagan's Nigerian import Chidi scored a comfortable goal to put his team ahead in the match.
