David Coulthard's zip across the link had thousands heading to Bandra yesterday afternoon to catch the racing great burn rubber.
Among them was 15-year-old Nilus Rodricks who had travelled from Vasai to watch the event but fell a bit ill because of the intense heat.
"I fought with mom and bunked my morning choir practice to be the first to come here. But the show got delayed by an hour and I threw up. I'm really happy that I got to shake hands with Coulthard," said the teen.
Oops!
Mumbai's Police Commissioner D Shivanandan was called as a chief guest to flag off the event. But Coulthard paced off before the flag off time leaving Shivanandan still holding the flag. Though later both Coulthard and Commissioner Shivanandan shared a laugh about it.
Lesson learnt
On his first visit, the one thing David Coulthard will never forget is the way people drive here.
"It's a great technique that you guys have developed. Even with the cows, the autorickshaws and the bicycles, everyone seems to have adjusted very well and everything goes on properly. That's something that everyone should learn," he said.
