Ronaldo was born Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ronaldo's parents separated when he was 11 years of age. Ronaldo has a younger brother Nelio Jr.

Ronaldo was nicknamed 'El Fenomeno' which means The Phenomenon. He is considered to be one of the greatest footballers in history.

In 1993, at the age of 16, Ronaldo began his career in football when he played for Cruzeiro. He played a total of 14 matches with 12 goals. In the 1990s, Ronaldo played for clubs such as Barcelona, Cruzeiro, PSV and Inter Milan. Ronaldo played for Barcelona between 1996-97 in 37 matches scoring 34 goals.

In the next five years up to 2002, Ronaldo played for Inter Milan in 68 matches with 49 goals to his name.

Ronaldo played for Real Madrid from 2002 to 2007. He went on to play 127 matches and score 83 goals during his time at the club.

Following his departure from Real Madrid, Ronaldo went on to play for AC Milan and Corinthians.

Ronaldo has played a total of 343 games and scored 247 goals in his club career.

Ronaldo made his debut for the Brazil national team in 1994 and went on to play until 2011. 

Ronaldo played 98 international matches and has scored 62 goals.

Ronaldo is the second-highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history. He has scored 15 goals for Brazil in the 3 World Cup appearances he made.

Ronaldo is also the second-highest goalscorer of all time for Brazil behind Pele.

Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or on two occasions - 1997 and 2002.

During the 1998 World Cup, Ronaldo won the Golden Ball as he took Brazil into the finals where they lost to France.

Ronaldo was part of the famous three along with Rivaldo and Ronaldinho during the 2002 World Cup. Ronaldo was the highest goalscorer with 8 goals in the tournament.

On the personal front, Ronaldo married Brazilian model-actress Susana Werner  in 1997 but the couple never got married and parted ways in 1999.

In April 1999, Ronaldo got married to Milene Domingues, a Brazilian footballer. The couple split in 2003.

Ronaldo then went on to marry model and TV host Daniela Cicarelli in a luxury wedding but their marriage that lasted only three months.

Ronaldo later went on to get engaged to Maria Beatriz Antony. The couple have two daughters together. However the couple parted ways in 2012.

Since 2015, Ronaldo has been in a steady relationship with model Celina Locks. Celina who is 14 years younger to Ronaldo.
