Having soaked in plenty of pressure, Utpal Shanghvi Global School (Juhu) did well to snatch a 2-0 win in the boys' under-12 MSSA Cup inter-school knockout tournament final at Azad Maidan on Tuesday.

Central defender Semar Singh was rock solid in defence and inspired his teammates to put on a dogged display to deny the rival attackers from scoring a goal.

The Campion lads went on the offensive from the outset, but they were unable to break through the rival defence and score a goal, which proved elusive and that cost them a win.

Utpal Shanghvi broke the deadlock when their captain Ayaansh Mathur trapped Semar's long free-kick and sidestepped a defender before beating the Campion School goalkeeper with an angular shot in the 40th minute.

The Juhu school sealed their win when Keshav Kedia latched on to a forward through pass and shot home from close to double the lead much to the cheer of his teammates and parents who had turned up to witness the match.

Earlier, Christ Church (Byculla) defeated St. Peters' (Mazagaon) 4-3 via tiebreaker.
