St Joseph's HS (Wadala) fought hard to beat Christ Church (Byculla) 5-4 via tie-breaker defeat in the quarter-finals of the boys' U-16 Ahmed Sailor MSSA inter-school football tournament at the St Francis D'Assisi HS ground, Borivli, on Friday.
After a barren first half, Div-II runners-up St Joseph's scored immediately after resumption when Tanmay Sawant put the finishing touch to a well-constructed move down the middle. Stung by that setback, Div-I outfit Christ Church regrouped and launched a series of attacks. They finally found the equaliser in stoppage time through striker Abdaar Chashmawala, taking the match into the tie-breaker.

Earlier, Div-II champions Cambridge School (Kandivli) continued their impressive run, beating Cathedral & John Connon (Fort) 2-0 in another Last-8 match. Ninad Mohite (sixth minute) and Neel Shah in the (17th minute) scored for Cambridge.
