Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney
English footballer Jamie Vardy's wife, Rebekah has suffered a financial setback in her WAG row with fellow footballer Wayne Rooney's wife, Coleen.
According to British tabloid, The Daily Mail, Rebekah was asked to pay GBP10,500 (approx Rs 10.82 lakh) towards Coleen's legal costs in their High Court battle. Rebekah-owned BKYV Media Ltd has GBP36,046 (approx Rs 37.16 lakh) in debt.
The financial records of the firm, which is co-owned by Vardy, show that the company has assets worth GBP6,856 (approx Rs 7.06 lakh). Last year, the firm, launched in 2016, had debts of GBP22,151 (approx Rs 22.82 lakh) against assets of only GBP10,755 (approx Rs 11.07 lakh).
The recent development is a further blow to Rebekah's GBP1million (approx Rs 10.3 crore) libel suit against Coleen, who claimed a 2-1 win in the latest round of their feud.
Judge Justice Steyn rejected Rebekah's bid to remove substantial parts of Coleen's defence relating to her rival's dealings with The Sun newspaper and its column, The Secret Wag.
The judge felt that such dealings could prove to be an important part of her defence of libel action brought by Rebekah before leaking of Coleen's Instagram posts to the tabloid in 2019, which she denies.
