Radhika Vyas, 12, and Vamika Udeshi, 13, succeeded in scoring a goal each in the final minutes, which paved the way for Smt RSB Arya Vidya Mandir (AVM), Juhu, to overcome Dhirubhai Ambani School (Bandra) by a 2-0 margin in a girls' under-14 Div-I semi-final play-off match of the MSSA inter-school football tournament at Cooperage on Friday.
The fleet-footed central midfielder Radhika exhibited good dribbling skills and played a pivotal role as the Juhu girls did the bulk of the attacking. But despite dominating, they could manage to break the deadlock with just two minutes remaining. The diminutive Radhika picked up a pass just outside the box and charged past the rival defenders before shooting past Ambani goalkeeper Ayanna Vazirani to give AVM the much needed lead.

A little later, Vamika scored the second goal also from a solo effort as she dodged a couple of Ambani defenders and slotted the ball into the back of the net, giving goalkeeper Ayanna no chance to make a save. Later, in the second semi-final, Cathedral & John Connon were fortunate to get the better of Bombay Scottish (Mahim) 4-3 via the sudden death penalty shootout after the match ended in a goalless draw.
