Leicester City star Danny Simpson has fought with ex-girlfriend Stephanie Ward, claiming that she stopped their five-year-old daughter Skye Lorena from speaking to him on his birthday.

The footballer, who turned 30 on Wednesday, wrote: "When you FUND your exes [sic] whole life and can't even get a happy birthday message off your child. What a world we live in lol #happybirthday."

Stephanie hit back with a series of her own tweets, claiming he's "bitter". Sharing a video of a book she had made for him for Christmas, she wrote :"Who made this as a gift for you??? ME. What did you get for me for Christmas? @dannysimpson you are so bitter." She added: "Tell your fans how I collected Skye from your house & you said in front of her ‘I didn't hit you hard enough' then abused me @dannysimpson."
