‘Ex-England footballer Ashley Cole wasn’t keen on dating Meghan Markle,’ reveals friend

A friend of Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle has claimed that she tried to set up a date for the Duchess of Sussex with former England footballer, Ashley Cole in 2013 but he was not interested.

According to earlier reports, the former Arsenal and Chelsea defender was chasing Markle, but English radio personality, Lizzie Cundy said it was the latter who was keen for a meeting.

Cundy revealed Markle was on the lookout for an English boyfriend while she was in the UK. And when she approached Cole to see if he was interested in dating Markle, it turned out that he wasn't keen.

"Meghan said she loved London and would love an English boyfriend, so I went through my phone to see who I knew that might be a good fit," Cundy told fashion magazine, Grazia.

"I tried to find her a boyfriend. Ashley Cole wasn't so keen but I did try to fix her up, which is funny looking back."
