FC Barcelona demonstrated once again that they can win on the European football stage without their star forward Lionel Messi when they beat Borussia Moenchengladbach in their Champions League encounter on Wednesday.

Thorgan Hazard, who is the younger brother of Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard, put Borussia Moenchengladbach in the lead during the first half. However, it was goals within the last half hour from Barcelona's Arda Turan and defender Gerard Pique that sealed their second victory in Group C.

Barcelona earlier thrashed Celtic 7-0 during their first match at Camp Nou. Star striker Lionel Messi was injured during the match due to a groin strain and will be out for three weeks. Messi scored a hat-trick in that game.
